Join us as we kick-off the first annual Start The Conversation event where Marnita’s Table hosts over 600 multi-cultural attendees including teens, singles, parents and grandparents in some SERIOUS FUN!
At this first of its kind public dialogue, we will explore the “truth or consequences” of Sex, Drugs & Reality TV and start the conversation about pop culture’s impact on our lives.
Marnita’s Table has created an annual platform called “Start The Conversation” to step up our efforts as catalysts for change and make our dynamic work accessible to a larger audience.
Le Cordon Bleu will serve a delectable menu, carefully designed to stimulate the senses and initiate conversation.
“Truth in Advertising” - a juried exhibition of original art work designed to deepen the dialogue that is essential to the mission and work of Marnita’s Table. (Call for Submissions)
"Celebrity Conversation Starters” - over 40 community leaders and subject matter experts will be on site serving as table facilitators.
Virtual “Hotspots” - impromptu video interviews to comment on the effects of Sex, Drugs and Reality TV in our lives.
After Dinner Dance Club - A hip and quirky dance appropriate for all ages at the later edges of the evening.
Who will be there?
600 multicultural attendees, ages: 13+ to seniors of all ages
Business executives, government leaders, educators, social activists and students
Individuals from every ethnicity including: Immigrant African, Black, Latino, Asian, Islander, European, Middle Eastern and Native American.
What do we want to accomplish?
Create a “seriously fun” event that bridges race, age, gender, culture, class, politics and religion through intentional social interaction.
Engage a multi-cultural, inter-generational community in substantive conversation to explore how sex, drugs & reality TV impact our lives.
Be a catalyst for change by openly discussing the truth and consequences of topics that range from the “silly to the sublime”, controversial to transformational.
Give this event a sense of importance in the community.
Create awareness and revenue for Marnita’s Table.
